WELCOME TO WEST LANCS GUNDOGS  Nick Powell is the founder of West Lancs Gundogs based in Ormskirk, Lancashire and is you're first point of contact once an enquiry has been made. Initially your first appointment is an assessment, of both handler and dog. Not every handler and dog are suitable for Gundog training and this assessment gives us the chance to see what has been achieved to date and what will be expected in training. Equipment will be discussed and if required supplied, e.g. Whistle, Slip Lead, Training Dummies and Game Bag. (collars are not used in training) Residential Training for your dog is available from February/March through to July/August. However, because we are now a full time training Kennel we can accommodate dogs all year around. Again this is through assessment as only dogs of a certain ability will be accepted for Residential Training. All dogs coming in for training must be fully vaccinated and be covered for kennel cough also. For those Handlers looking for one to one training we have opportunities throughout the week during day light hours and at weekends, via three groups. Depending on competency, handler and dog are assessed and will join the appropriate group. We try to keep ability rather than age together as best we can.
